Our Story

Tom and Maggie Bellew, owners of Bellew Tile & Marble, opened their business in Rockland, Massachusetts in 1994. Tom, whose father, Walter, was a tile and marble installer since 1946, is no stranger to the tile and stone business.

Working with his father while very young, as well as working for many large commercial tile and stone companies on some of Boston’s largest complexes, including the John Hancock Building, Westin Hotel, and Copley Place, not to mention many years of contracting tile and stone jobs on his own, has given Tom valuable experience that he readily shares with Bellew Tile & Marble’s retail customers, contractors, and decorators.

Tom remembers the days of the 50's and 60's when upon accompanying his Dad, going to peoples homes to give estimates for work to be done, his Dad needed only to place a small box of tile samples on the prospective customer’s kitchen table to show what tiles were available for their tile project... things have changed! It now takes Bellew Tile & Marble 6,000 sq. ft. of showroom space to adequately represent the thousands of tiles available to our customers.

Having the finest showroom in the Boston area is only a small part of Bellew Tile & Marble’s continued success. The biggest reason for their popularity is the fact that they employ “the finest people in the business”. Bellew Tile & Marble is the quintessential family business. Two of Tom and Maggie’s eight children, Jim and Joe, upon finishing college, are working for the company. Some of the younger children, though still in school, also work part time for the family business. Maggie’s sister Rhoda runs accounts payable, Tom’s mother, Dolores, does the filing, and Tom’s sister-in-law, Patti Bellew, is a key part of the showroom staff.
